Read to Self. This means she is reading on her own and practicing strategies for Comprehension, Accuracy, Fluency, and Expanding Vocabulary (C.A.F.E.).
Devin and Jesus are practicing
Read to Someone. This means they are sitting EEKK (elbow to elbow, knee to knee) and reading to each other with very quiet voices. Jesus checks for understanding when Devin is done with a page, and then they switch jobs.

Work on Writing. They all have special notebooks where they get to write about whatever they want! This practice should help students with their writing stamina--getting their thoughts on paper before they're lost!

Listen to Reading. Together these options make the Daily 5--activities students do during independent work time!
We started with a pumpkin... 
Cut it open, cleaned it out, and baked it in some water.
and every student had a job to do!
We scraped the cooked pumpkin into a bowl...
Mashed it up...
Added sugar, eggs, milk....
And some spices...
poured it into a pie pan...and baked it.
Ta-Da! Here is our beautiful, delicious, fresh pumpkin pie!
